Reefs of Malaysia - Marine Heritage

jennylaw123 asked:

Malaysia is fast becoming one of the leading dive destinations of the world with the richest marine environment in the Indo-Pacific Basin. The incredible bio-diversity of marine life coupled with beautiful islands with white sandy beaches and clear warm waters keep the divers coming back for more.

From schooling hammerhead sharks, huge schools of barracudas and various turtles to the bizarre frogfish or ghost pipefish, there is always something to fascinate the diver.
In Malaysia, the coral reef ecosystem is reported to support aquatic organism numbering more than 50 genera of coral and more than 200 species of fish. Each time a marine bio-diversity survey is conducted in the Malaysian tropical sea, the species list increases.
Dive centres in Malaysia are well equipped and are certified by relevant agencies for maintaining their standards of safety and professionalism. Scuba diving courses endorsed by certifying agencies like PADI, NAUI, SSI, and BSAC. Some of the courses available include the initial ‘Openwater Course’, ‘Diving Instructor Course’ or even a ‘Re-breather Course’. Upon completion of your scuba course you can be outfitted with the latest scuba equipment of most international brands available from dive centres in Malaysia.

Not a Clue How to Invest? Follow Your Heart…

scuba gear
Zoy Koy asked:

When you hear the word “invest,” it’s probably in a Charles Schwab commercial while you’re flipping through tv channels , somewhere in between Animal Planet and Grey’s Anatomy. If you’re like me, susceptible to frequent family visits, perhaps you get the same old lecture from Uncle Hank time and time again… “You’re investing in that IRA/401k)/stock portfolio, aren’t you kid?”

We all know we should be investing our hard-earned money for our futures, but how do we go from not knowing where to start to watching our invested dollars grow? Some questions that might run through your mind are: What should I invest in? What sort of funds should I look into? Do I want to take risks, or am I more conservative? These questions are not the most tantalizing topic in the world, but let’s say we make them that way for just a moment!

I propose we start with what we know and love. Start with what makes us interested and excited. Imagine for a moment, that instead of getting lost in the bottomless pit of mutual funds, stocks, bonds, ticker symbols – all that mumbo jumbo – pretend that we can invest in anything we want. Yup, anything! Your favorite movie star, cartoon character, NBA player or band. For example, let’s say we have $100 to start investing with. Hey, every dollar counts and no matter how old you are, I bet you can scrape up $100 to put toward your financial future!

With our $100, let’s invest $25 into the fund of “Scarlett Johansson” (favorite actress), $25 into the fund of “Spongebob” (favorite cartoon character), $25 into the fund of “Monta Ellis” (favorite NBA star – Go Warriors!) and lastly, $25 into the fund of “Coldplay” (favorite band).

There. The hard part’s over. We’ve chosen our funds, now we sit back and watch our “funds” mature. Imagine this – every time the beautiful Scarlett makes a blocbuster and people buy tickets to see it, CHA-CHING! Money in your pocket. Every time Monta Ellis shoots a 3-pointer, look out, CHA-CHING again! What’s that, Spongebob’s on, the episode where he visits his grandma and takes Patrick the starfish with him? CHA-CHING baby! Driving in your car and happen to catch Coldplay on the radio? Score, more money in your pocket!

The idea is, if you’re clueless on how to start investing, why not put your money where your interests are? Do you like drinking soda? Do you enjoy playing video games? Are you into scuba diving? Hey, throw some money into some beverage stock, invest a little in your favorite video game company, or maybe your favorite scuba diving gear brand? Totally random subjects, but the moral of this story is that no matter what you love, no matter what your hobbies are, I bet you can find something that you are knowledgeable about and interested in. And when you are passionate about something enough to follow it, you can bet that it will be that much more fun to invest your money in too.

Where To Find Used Scuba Gear

scuba
Peter Hansson asked:

If you are planning to try your hand at scuba diving, then you must have had a lot of realizations. One is that scuba diving is not as easy as it seems. Considered formally as a sport, scuba diving is not like other sports because it requires not just strengthening of a particular body area but rather overall wellness and fitness. Another disappointing and probably alarming realization you might have had is that the price with which scuba diving comes translates to a lot. This means that, in order to play the game, you might have to shell out a lot of money. This is exactly why scuba diving is deemed as a recreational sport by some - only a few people can afford to scuba dive as much as they can because it involves a lot of money. So if you are planning to be one of those people, then it might be time for you to find places where you can buy used scuba gear.

Why should I buy used scuba gear?

Taking from the word itself, used scuba gear is scuba gear that has been used for a certain period of time. You may sneer at the idea of buying used scuba gear. This is not surprising since the thought of buying something that has been used by other people may seem inconceivable and even foolish. However, the price by which scuba diving equipment comes for can be very taxing, and it may be very illogical for you to get a brand new set of each tool and gadget needed in your scuba equipment. Rather than going for this kind of illogical move, the only alternative available for you is to buy used scuba gear. In the end, you save a lot of money without necessarily compromising the quality. You ought to remember that, sometimes, you have to compromise your values in order to attain what will be, in the end, best for you.

Also, you should look into buying used scuba gear if you don’t think you are going to use it successively. If you are planning to buy scuba gear just because you will need one whenever you take a vacation - which is something that only happens every once in a while - then, you better go and buy used scuba gear.

What components should I look for in buying used scuba gear?

Admittedly, it is not ideal for you to buy an overall used scuba gear. For example, if you are going to buy an overall used scuba gear that includes a used scuba suit, then you might have a problem with that. A used scuba suit implies that the suit has not only been worn from head to toe by the original possessor, but it has also been stretched to its limits. You cannot expect the medium size of a brand new scuba suit to be the same size of a medium-sized used scuba suit. This is because the fabric has been stretched, and many damages have been done to it. Therefore, you should look into the matter of buying used scuba gear very carefully. For all you know, you may be buying all the wrong components in a used scuba gear.

But there are also excellent choices for a used scuba gear. For example, buying a used underwater compass might be ideal, inasmuch as an underwater compass is something that does not easily break. Also, buying a brand new compass is very expensive. In the end, the expense by which a brand new compass comes is not worth it. You might get the same quality with a used scuba compass, if you look hard enough.

Panamas Pacific Coastline: an Ocean Lovers Wave of Adventure in Beach and Water Activities

scuba diver
Simon Hurst asked:

Panamas Pacific Coastline is rich with activities for resort-goers, water sport enthusiasts, explorers, scuba divers, sailors, boaters, fishermen and anyone who idolizes the heat of the sun, the roaring waves, white-sandy beaches and the cool ocean breeze. The Pacific Ocean is the worlds largest ocean and could easily cover the continents we live on today. The Oceans glory leaves Panama with islands to explore, coves to dive in and beautiful beaches where the hot Panamanian sand sifts through our toes as we race towards the sea. Living, traveling or vacationing in Panama anywhere on the Pacific Coastline is sure to be a treasured part of anyones life.

Investors in Panama and nations from all over the world are getting excited over AARPs recommendations for retiring in Panama and the positive reports on Panamas developments printed in the New York Times. The Baby-boomers who will be retiring soon (if not already) are an active and healthy generation. Real estate developers are becoming obsessed with the luxurious provisions and enticing water adventures that Pacific Coastal living in Panama can provide for these retirees.

The shores of Puerto Armuelles run only miles from Costa Rico. The ocean waters in this area are famed for its world-class fishing and they are a dream for professional anglers, scuba divers, and sailors. Scattered Vistas line the shores, but Puerto Armuelles has yet to be developed to its fullest potential and it is ripe for residential housing and tourist development. Significant business opportunities lie in not only real estate, but also in creating marinas, chartering fishing tours or creating a charted sailing tour along the Pacific Coast of Panama.

Miles from Puerto Armuelles running down the Pacific Coast lays the modern city of David, the capital of the province Chiriqui and one of the largest cities in Central Americas Panama. Despite its modernity and the presence of an international airport, David is a leisure city and life tends to run much slower pace than Panama City. Agricultural land, reasonably priced homes, and small-business ventures are at home in David and investments and real-estate property is ready and waiting. The city of David doesnt rest directly on the Pacific Coast, but it paves the way to the adventures in the Gulf of Chiriqui.

The Gulf of Chiriqui is home to the islands of National Geographic films. The famed Galapagos seals, Leatherback turtles, large iguanas, parrots and other exotic birds robust with color as well as the whales and dolphins out in the sea are found in and around the Archipelago of the Paridas. These Pacific Coast Islands are encompassed in the Gulf of Chiriqui National Marine Park for scientific exploration, education and for protecting endangered species.

In the Gulf of Chiriqui Valley of the Moon also sits the Island of Ladrones, nicknamed the Island of Thieves after a brutal looting of Magellans ship. The ocean waters around the Island of Ladrones are a scuba divers dream, brimming with unexplored underwater mountains and massive amounts of sea life. Whale watching from the Island brings charters of sea-faring tourists. Dedicated fishermen are almost guaranteed a hearty Pacific catch out in the Gulf of Chiriqus Cobia Island (Isla de Cobia). The Islas Secas are a privately owned group of islands that lavishes the vacations that island fantasies are made of. Resort style accommodations, unexplored tropical wilderness, water adventures in kayaking, scuba diving, surfing, beachcombing and artifact digging, as well as spas, massages, casual fine-dining and colorful tropical drinks, highlight this exclusive vacation area. Private islands still exist for investor development and the Gulf of Chiriqui is ripe for business opportunity.

Nearby, La Barqueta Beach is a popular Pacific Coast Beach for beachcombers and early morning surfers in Panama within the Gulf of Chiriqui that is around a half-hour drive from David. Although much of the character of La Barqueta Beach remains in the modest tropical houses of local fishermen and food fare, development in the area is evident with the ongoing construction of condominiums, small hotels and beachfront property. Los Olas is a newer resort at a convenient location and the nearby beaches are soothingly often deserted which allows for a reasonably priced peaceful vacation or getaway. Here you can jet ski, visit a coffee plantation, a deserted island or go horseback riding on the beach.

Following Panamas Pacific Coast southward, the peninsula of Azureros just out of Panamas isthmus provides centuries of history and culture within its hills, world-class surfing and sport fishing in its earnest Pacific waters. The Azureros is eagerly being developed and the potential is vast. Hollywood stars are grabbing for acres, tropical forests and sandy beaches are being dotted with exquisite vistas made by the finest of designers. Five-star resorts off the sands of Azureros are gaining international recognition that has often been held for the resorts on the wildly popular beaches of Panamas Playa Coronado.

Playa Coronado has long been a tourist attraction due to its close vicinity to Panama City. Real-estate development projects are continuously expanding and projects such as the 700 acre Vista Mar development, offer condominiums, first-class golfing, ocean-view homes and a world of amenities.

Across the waters from Playa Coronado are the legendary Islands of Pearl where pirates hid their treasures and oysters hide their pearls. The legendary pearls of Panamas Pearl Islands have made their way to European Royalty and Hollywood Stars. The La Peregrina pearl, an internationally recognized 31-carat 400 year old pearl was found on this Pacific Island and yet these 90 islands are largely left uninhibited. The calm surrounding Pacific waters are favored by snorkeling, sailors and of course fishermen.

Panamas Pacific Coast provides a wave of adventure for residents and vacationers. The international popularity of Panamas Pacific Coast is spreading fast. Real-estate developers and both small and large business investors and entrepreneurs are beginning to stake their claim in the future of Panamas beautiful Pacific Coast. Small coastal villas, rich stately Vistas, and towering Condominiums are multiplying on Panamas beaches and developers are successfully balancing the attraction of Panamas tropical nature with the attraction of business on the coast. Panama is surely the wave of the future for real-estate investments, tourism and vacation island dreams. Surfs up on Panamas Pacific Coast.

Making The Most of Your St. Thomas Vacation

John Pawlett asked:

Located in the Caribbean, the island of St.Thomas is a popular vacation destination. If you are planning a vacation in there you may be wondering how you can make the most out of your vacation. There are a number of different ways that you can make the most out of your St.Thomas vacation. Many of those ways requires a small amount of research and planning ahead.

The easiest way to make the most out of your vacation is to decide what you want to do and see before you arrive in there. If you have never vacationed in St Thomas before, you will need to familiarize yourself with the area. The good news about researching is that it is a popular vacation destination. This popularity has lead to a large number of online travel guides and resources.

In addition to researching St. Thomas online, you should be able to request travel brochures. Most of these brochures will be delivered directly to your door. When requesting travel brochures, it is important to keep in mind that it may take some time for the brochures to arrive. You are advised to request travel brochures at least two months before you plan on leaving.

When examining what St.Thomas has to offer, you will need to be on the lookout for activities or events that peak your interest. The easiest way to make the most out of your vacation is to find and participate in any events or activities that you feel you’d enjoy. These activities may include, but should not be limited to boating, swimming, hiking, biking, or scuba diving.

In addition to familiarizing yourself with St. Thomas, you are also encouraged to make sure that you bring along enough money with you. Running out of money while on vacation is almost a surefire way to ruin your vacation. If you are unsure how much money you should bring with you, you can easily estimate. Taking into consideration food, drinks, shopping, and entertainment, you should be able to estimate the appropriate amount of money that will needed.

The accommodations that you make can also make or break your vacation. If you are interested in spending more than a week in there, you are encouraged to schedule your travel and hotel accommodations well in advance. It is also advised that you familiarize yourself with the airline you plan on taking there and the hotel or resort that you plan on staying at.

St.Thomas is most known for its beautiful beachside resorts. While most resorts are considered top-of-the-line resorts, not all are. You are encouraged to know where you will be staying and what you can expect. Reviewing online pictures of the hotel or resort you wish to vacation at is the best way to ensure that you will not be disappointed. The same should be said when making travel accommodations. Knowing who you are flying with and what your flight will be like is the best way to make the most out of traveling there.

No matter where you vacation, the possibility of having a bad vacation always exists. Simply by making the proper travel arrangements and by knowing what to expect, you can make sure that your vacation is everything that you wanted it be.

The Best Luxury Resorts and Spas in Maldives

scuba gear
Gregory Smyth asked:

The Maldives is a group of twenty six atolls, and the country is comprised of over 1100 islets - and when you understand this, it makes the fact that on luxury vacation in the Maldives you enjoy the privacy of your own entire island, a lot more credible! The hundreds of islands of the Maldives range from about 2.5km to just 150m across, and you can stay in luxury on your own desert island in any number of places. Understandably, tourism accounts for around 28% of the Maldives’ GDP, and there is a larger concentration of luxury hotels on these islands than just about anywhere else in the world. This is why we have compiled our guide to the cream of the crop.

When looking at staying in the Maldives, it is important to note that the facilities at the hotel you choose to stay at are the only ones you have access to for the duration of your trip - unless you choose a resort that also offers boat hire, in which case you can transport yourself around the islands. This makes it incredibly important to make sure that the luxury resort in the Maldives can take care of all of the equipment for your stay. Will you want to go scuba diving? Do you want to fish, and will you need to rent gear for that? What else do you want to do? And how well planned are you when you pack your suitcases?!

If you are looking to get away from the world, the Maldives is one of the best and most luxurious and beautiful places to do it. You will want to make sure that your hotel caters to few people - generally the upper end of the price scale when it comes to luxury accommodation in the Maldives means that the resort is smaller.

One of the closest luxury hotels in the Maldives to Male International Airport is the Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru. You reach the resort by speedboat, which you will find to be intimate and eco-friendly. At this resort you can scuba dive, wind surf, sail a catamaran, canoe, play beach volleyball, and also go big game fishing. The accommodation at this Maldives luxury resort is in bungalows. Thee are 48 of these, and they feature an open terrace per villa, a private landscaped garden and private sundeck. The recessed sitting area and four poster bed make you feel in the lap of luxury for every minute.

Holiday Island is another excellent Maldives luxury resort, located on Dhiffushi island in the southern Alif Atoll. This is a more secluded island than Vabbinfaru, up to 2 1/2hrs from Male by speedboat, although you can reach it in 30 minutes by seaplane. The accommodation at Holiday Island features antique furniture and paintings by local artists, helping to support the local economy in areas other than tourism. There are 142 beautiful seaside rooms with luxurious amenities. There is also a wealth of activities here, including diving, wind surfing, catamarans, parasailing, wakeboarding, ringo riding, submarine diving, aerobics and tennis, just to name a few.

Shangri-La’s Vililingi Resort in the Maldives, due for completion in the end of 2008, is set on a three kilometer long island with almost two kilometers of white sandy beaches. The accommodation will range from tropical treehouse villas to private ocean retreats, and there are three natural lagoons on the island as well as the ocean to make use of. The luxury accommodation will be appointed in five distinct styles, and will have ipod charging docks and units, among other luxuries.

If you are travelling to the Maldives, it pays to do a little research, as it isn’t possible to walk to the next hotel over if you aren’t satisfied! Go for the Maldives luxury spas for an unforgettable experience.
