Scuba Diving in the Caribbean

scuba
James Penn asked:

Caribbean scuba diving is one of the rare pleasures available to people vacationing along the warm and clear waters of that tropical paradise. Throughout the year the Caribbean offers comfortable and beautiful weather with white sandy beaches that make the perfect vacation spot for hundreds and thousands of tourists every year. Caribbean scuba diving can be enjoyed in more than 30 locations in the Caribbean Sea and they are all offer scuba diving facilities throughout the year. The difference between these various locations is that they offer you the choice of going the regular tourist way and saying in the company of other travelers like you or you could opt to go for a more non-tourist approach and try to spend the time there like the locals.
One of the rarer spots for Caribbean scuba diving is found on the island of Antigua. Replete with the usual Caribbean advantages of great beaches and clement weather it also has some historical locations that make it a good place to collect memories. While the scuba diving around Antigua is not really deep, it is still breathtaking with the coral reefs that are unmatched in the entire Caribbean.
Another great place for Caribbean scuba diving was the island of Montserrat. This island was the home to a presumed inactive volcano that went unexpectedly active in the year 1996 and destroyed many locations along with half the town. Though the locals still maintain that the scuba diving is excellent though this has to be confirmed with the fact that the town is not nearly as restored to what it once was. This is also a good place if you like to watch active volcanoes at close range. Though this is not for everyone.
Then there are the well known British Virgin Islands that also offer some good Caribbean scuba diving. The British Virgin Islands are a group of small islands that attract many tourists every year. There are many caves, sinkholes, canyons, and ledges that make scuba diving a very interesting prospect in these areas. The most popular spot in the British Virgin Islands is the Painted Walls which feature rainbow colors during the dive. Wreck Diving is also possible here around the R.M.S. Rhone.
If you really want a remote and almost unknown place for Caribbean scuba diving then you should go to Nevis. There are many scuba diving sites on the east side of Nevis. Scuba diving can be done inshore as well as offshore with some beautiful naturally formed coral reefs.

Scuba Diving And Snorkeling Vacation In Hawaii

scuba diving
Chris Chew asked:

Millions of vacation tourists visit Hawaii every year. Most of them came to explore the beautiful Hawaiian Islands and volcanoes while some came with the intention to scuba dive in the tropical seas and to explore Hawaii’s magnificent underwater world. According to Rodale’s scuba diver magazine, Hawaii is one of the world’s top ten diving destination for scuba divers.

Hawaii’s marine life is very diverse so much so that there are more than a hundred endemic species found no where else on earth. You can explore Hawaii’s myriads of underwater caverns, reefs, drop off walls, canyons, gulleys and swim with turtles and seals in clear crystal waters. If you are not a scuba diver, you can take scuba diving lessons and then can plunge into Hawaii’s beautiful seas almost immediately.

If you want to go scuba diving, it is best to go in the morning as strong winds often rough up the sea in the afternoons. This is especially so on the island of Maui and that is the reason why dive operators often take divers out to sea early in the morning and terminate the dives around noon or early afternoons.

One of the big attractions in Hawaii is snorkeling. Almost anyone can go snorkeling since all you need is a face mask, a snorkel tube and a pair of swimming fins. If you have never snorkeled before, most resorts and dive operators can give you snorkelling lessons and rent you snorkeling gear. However, if you can swim, you really do not need any formal training as snorkeling is quite easy.

The most popular spot for snorkeling in Hawaii, especially for the beginner is the Hanauma Bay, on the island of Oahu. Other popular snorkeling sites in Hawaii are the Kee Beach on Kauai island, Hulopoe Bay in Lanai, Kahaluu Beach on the Big island and Kapalua Bay on Maui.

Although great snorkeling can be gotten at all the islands in Hawaii, snorkeling and scuba diving on the Big Island is recommended because of its volcanic activities and lava formation resulting from that. There are magnificent and spectacular drop offs with awesome underwater scenery to watch and admire. Some of the great snorkeling locations there are Molokini Crater and the Kealakekua Bay.

Whether you are snorkelling or scuba diving in Hawaii or anywhere else, always snorkel or dive with a buddy for safety reason and companion sake. Do look up now and then to check that you are not getting carried away by drift current too far away from shore and also to check for boat traffic. Do not touch anything as some corals and sea creatures in Hawaii can pack very painful and venomous stings.

Recreational Scuba Training – the Beginnings

scuba diving
Kamil Wojtys asked:

The earliest years of recreational scuba training were rigorous and labeled too militaristic by some educators and trainers. They argued that easier training would open diving to a greater portion of public, and make it more popular and profitable. This encouraged some scuba manufacturers, who needed a growing diving population to support their product sales, to actually develop a number of the earlier diver training courses. This led to the growth of the recreational diving public, which, coupled with the establishment of private training organizations, succeeded in bringing scuba diving to everyone. Nowadays almost all of us can participate in a diving course. In may cities we have a divers clubs associated with schools, colleges, universities and other. However, there are three obvious limitations connected with participating in a diving course. First one refers to one’s own health, which conditions may sometimes be insufficiently well to perform an underwater activities. Second one – is pure material reason called money. Diving courses, while not performed on behalf of university, or school, are in general relatievley expensive. The third, and the last limit is our will, which sometimes may happen to be not strong enough to help us stay.

There Is No Better Cure Than A Caribbean Vacation

MIKE SELVON asked:

Have you ever dreamed of taking a romantic Caribbean vacation? Do you like the thought of walking along moonlit beaches or riding horseback across the surf? Or maybe you’d like to try your hand at scuba diving or snorkeling?

Whether you are looking for an all inclusive Caribbean vacation for a few weeks, or a quick weekend away from the rat race, the islands of the Caribbean offer enough options to mix and match for the perfect tropical vacation.

When you start to do your research, you might find yourself with a bit of “option paralysis. There are literally hundreds of islands in the Caribbean and it might be hard to choose just one. While they all offer sunshine in paradise, each one is unique. The best thing to do is to start by checking different Caribbean reviews to see what island might be the best fit.

Aruba might be better suited for families, while St. Lucia might be geared more towards couples. The Caribbean site is one good site to get an over all view of these islands. This site provides an overview of all the islands along with Caribbean vacation packages and specials. There are maps and suggestions for things to do during your visit, too.

If you’re into water sports, the Caribbean is the place to go. Have you ever wanted to try scuba diving? Most of the hotels offer instruction and dives. It doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or a seasoned pro, the guides will make sure that you have everything you need to know with a couple hours of training in the hotel pool or in a quiet lagoon before taking you out into the blue to view the ocean floor up close and personal. There is also water skiing, snorkeling, parasailing, jet skis, fishing and banana boats.

The beauty about a Caribbean vacation is that you don’t have to do anything at all if you don’t want to. If you’d rather sit on the beach with a drink in your hand and your toes in the sand, there are plenty of beaches available. Do some exploring; chances are you’ll find your own private lagoon to laze the day away.

Some islands might have more nightlife than others. In the Caribbean, you can find some of the finest seafood restaurants as well as a few casinos if you like to spend time at the blackjack tables. Of course, there is always shopping too, so bring plenty of spending money.

The weather is great most of the year. Gentle trade winds keep the temperatures in the low to mid-70s and on islands like Aruba, rainfall is minimal. You might get a rain shower that lasts for no more than a few minutes before it moves on and you have the sun again. Late August into October are probably the worst times to plan a trip to the Caribbean because of the hurricane season. Check with your travel agent for what is considered “peak” season.

Places to stay can be widely varied, too. You can stay in a hotel or you can rent a condo for your stay. Condo rentals provide small kitchens and might save you some money.

Instead of eating out every night, you can sample the local cuisine by going to the markets and buying your own food to cook. Another option is taking a cruise if you can’t decide on one island. Book a cruise and go island hopping!

If you have always dreamed of a vacation in paradise, look no further. With a little research, you can put together a cheap Caribbean vacation on a moment’s notice and enjoy a trip to the tropics anytime you want.
